SS23 Wedding Bells II (Power stage)

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“This team deserves it. It has been a good season. Now four wins in a row. It has been a good season.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It was very nice but actually more difficult than this morning. The compact sand, when it gets warm, it gets slippery.  I had a good run, a couple mistakes. I don’t think we will win the powerstage but at least we had a good drive.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“We have been unlucky today but we have scored a point.  A mixture between happy and disappointed.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“For sure it has been really nice. I am really thankful for the DMACK guys.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It is nice to be back fighting with the guys back in front. It was a really close rally and I am happy with what we achieved.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It was really nice, I had a big push in that stage but I am really disappointed with the penalty on the first day. Thank-you to everybody in the team.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“We have enjoyed these last couple of stages. It has been difficult and wanted more. I am now concentrating on the off season.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“We had the speed all the weekend but with the cleaning conditions it was quite tough. Thanks to the whole team.”

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“The stage was enjoyable. We just tried to enjoy this one – this last one. I just like to thank the team and all they have done for us.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It has been a superb week. It feels so amazing. It is sad to see this team and car coming to an end. I told Anders in the stage that I will miss the car.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“We tried to drive fast but the temperature outside certainly didn’t help us and the car. We finished without the rally 2 system which is a big positive. Finally, we are happy!”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“It was a nice. Good position – second place in the category and a great way to finish the year.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“We managed to fix our morning’s issue in service. We had fun, and we didn’t push too much. Two years ago I retired on the last stage after the last jump so it was a little scared of the last stage. We managed it and we are so happy to finish the rally.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“After our troubles this morning we knew it was really, really close so we had to push.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“We had a good day today, some overheating issues in the long stages but the short ones were good. A good day of driving today.”

SS22 Settles Reverse II

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It was slippery and difficult to get the grip on the road. I was surprised to how hard it was to get the grip on the stage and temperature in the tyre. It was worse than this morning.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“The crew fixed everything in service but we have to finish this rally. It would be impossible to push and beat Jari-Matti Latvala. I can push and try to do it, it would be too much risk.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“It was very tricky and inconsistent grip. There was less grip than before.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It was ok. Still a nice stage but quite slippery – more than I expected. It is quite sandy in there and after the national drivers went through on the last stage they take different lines to the lines we take.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“That stage is very nice, I lost a bit of time in some places were I could have gone a bit faster.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“A clean stage, no mistakes and managing the gap. One more stage to go, we are close to our objective.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“We are just trying to enjoy these last couple of stages and put on a show on for our fans.”

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“It was good – a bit more grip than this morning. Some sections with the fesh fesh were a bit more slippery.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“I am taking this one really steady and not taking any risks.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“Just one more stage so I didn’t push”

SS21 Wedding Bells16 I

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“At the moment the feelings is really good – I can’t see a reason why we can’t continue this next year.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“We broke the rear diff in the long stage. We were wanting a nice run for the last day of the season but now that’s not possible.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“Very slippery on this one hopefully the second time will be better.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It was okay.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“The plan is to finish and try my best. Clearly the gap to third is big but anything can happen.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“I am the only one on hard tyres and I planned to keep my soft tyres for the power stage.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“Just made a mistake, ran a bit wide and knocked the wheel off the rim.”

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“We spun in the long stage, now we will fight until the end. For sure the rally is not over – we still have to finish.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“I have never driven so fast and been so comfortable – so is a really good feeling. I didn’t push like crazy here and set a really good time. Things are really coming together.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“Still two stages to go and as we’ve seen with Eric anything can happen so we can’t take any risks.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“The rear windscreen broke after a jump – I don’t know why.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“It’s slippery and the surface is changing all the time. We aren’t pushing today as we want to keep the position.”

Car 35. KHALID AL-SUWAIDI/MARSHALL CLARKE

“It is dusty – although it has been good for me, I’ve enjoyed the stage and am happy with the time.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“We are stuck in second gear and I think we can get it fixed in service.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“We had a puncture at the start of Bucca and the tyre damaged the brake line so we had no brakes for the rest of that stage and this one.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“A tough morning. Having to put the heater back on in the car to keep it safe – so it’s been hot in here.”

SS20 Bucca16

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“We had a good run overall – a good stage. The first 20km was really good but after that it was very powdery and felt very slippery in places.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“We have a broken rear-diff and only front-drive. Nothing we can do.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“Crazy fast. We must have been catching Lorenzo – just blind at times with dust.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“A had a little problem with my brakes. Just want to get through the day.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It was a good stage. There is a lot of dust coming in to the car and struggled with that – as well as the dust from the car in front. I pushed as hard as I could where I could see.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It was difficult with the pace notes in places and some places it was dusty. I could have gone faster. In some places it has cleaned and in places it is sandy and slippery.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“It was okay. Obviously I am on hard and soft tyre mix so I have not much tyre left if I want them for the power stage and maximum points.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

Rear left tyre disintegrated: “Nothing to say. We went wide, touched a bank and knocked the tyre off the rim. We’ll see.”

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“It is okay, we had a spin and lost maybe 15seconds. Now we are down – it is part of the game.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“We had a good stage – we really pushed. It wasn’t the perfect stage and made a couple of small mistakes but am comfortable. I am in a good mood and have confidence in this type of driving when I push fast.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“I was very slow in this one. I was just cruising – to avoid the big rocks and be sure that everything is fine and now we only have three short stages to go – I just want to finish.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“In this one I was very careful. This event is a very good one for me and I’m now driving at 80% I think – driving around all the stones.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“It was okay – am driving to save the position. The stages today are tricky so just driving to the finish.”

Car 35. KHALID AL-SUWAIDI/MARSHALL CLARKE

On medium compound tyre: “We had a spin and the stage is slippery – maybe we got the wrong tyres. Am surprised how slippery it is.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“We lost the gearbox and stuck in second gear.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“We are getting hot again – but made it through. It’s narrow, rough but quite a nice stage really.”

SS19 Settles Reserve I

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“Not so bad. You don’t have the braking points but grip wasn’t so bad. In the start of the corner the car wanted to go sideways but the exit was fine. We enjoyed it – it was a nice stage.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“It would be quite scary for 30km stage with dust – this wasn’t worth the risk

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“Slippery but not too bad. A really fast stage and a bit nasty in places where there isn’t a breeze.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It was dusty in the reece so my notes aren’t very good so happy to complete the first pass.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It was dusty in the reece so my notes aren’t very good so happy to complete the first pass.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“Quite okay. I made one mistake where my pace notes were too fast for one corner and I lost time before a long straight.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“The start of the stage was difficult – a very fast stage.

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“We had a spin in the very fast section. There was so much dust in the car and I was distracted and spun the car and stalled the engine. I lost about 10sec when the car wouldn’t start straight away.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“We aren’t going down without trying. The guys behind are going to be pushing. I tried hard in there and was probably overdriving in places but these things happen when you try – you have to keep the momentum.”

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“It is good to be in front of Hayden and today I would like to grab this victory – to be a final win for Volkswagen. Still, there are a few kilometres to go.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“We are attacking at maximum. No mistakes so keeping our pace going.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“Very good. Fast stage to start the day. The grip was changeable so have to be careful.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“There were patches of sun out there which made it hard to pick the lines. It was hard but the car worked well.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“It was good. Very fast and the grip was changeable but okay.”

Car 35. KHALID AL-SUWAIDI/MARSHALL CLARKE

“The car is good today. It is slippery out there but we will try to get through.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“It was fast but slippery. I was surprised at the lack of grip especially at the start of the stage.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“We were quite conservative through there. We are in a good position and will try to take it easy.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“It was a good one to start the day with! We were a bit conservative on some of the notes that we have to look at for the afternoon.”

Service E

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“So far it has been an amazing rally for us. I didn’t expect, with the disadvantage of road position, to be fighting for the win – but now we are. Today obviously we had a good drive and good tyre strategy. This morning we were the only ones to take the bet to use soft tyres on the front for the long stage and it worked out for us. At the end of the day it looks interesting for tomorrow.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“Ogier will be on a charge tomorrow and definitely try to win. Other than that we have to see. It is a tricky day tomorrow – a lot of things can happen. With my road position and tyre choice I lost a bit this morning being in the battle for third. We have managed quite well and are not so far away.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“Seb is pushing very hard. Sadly we had an incident on the last proper stage where the clutch pedal went over the brake pedal and we drove half the stage with brake pressure on. Anyway it makes things really interesting for tomorrow. We will do everything we can to win this rally because we have nothing to lose and everything to gain – and so does Seb, so it will be very interesting.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“Tomorrow will be a big push. Obviously it is very close and Seb and Andreas will be pushing each other as well – everybody has got nothing to lose. The stages we get tomorrow are quite different to the rest of the rally – the are new and fast in the forest.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“Today was good. In the long stage first pass we had a lot of dust and lost a bit of time but apart than that we are in the fight for fifth place.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“Nambucca was very good, so too was Valla, for the first time today, with very good times and gives me confidence tomorrow. I need to catch two minutes to Lappi which could be too much.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“Today has been quite good. I think the morning was very strong. We struggled a bit more in the afternoon – especially in the 50km stage where we lost some time. We tried to make some changes to the car and it didn’t work out. We changed it back for the next one and it was better but unfortunately it cost us too much time considering our fight with Thierry and Dani. But okay at least we are in contact with Dani and will fight tomorrow.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“It has been a tricky day with some really tough conditions and long stages.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“Today has been a strong day for us with good times. It is important to have a battle with your teammate – as you have the same car. We didn’t expect to battle with him and everybody as well as we have so is very good for our first time here.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“Today we damaged the rear anti rollbar but the times weren’t so bad so we are in ninth position for tomorrow.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“I want to check the pace notes are fine. The morning was fine. This afternoon I enjoyed more. I gave it a bit of a push on the long one because it felt natural. The grip was good and the feeling was fine. It was really warm and I don’t think I’ve had it so warm inside the car and looking forward to tomorrow.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“So getting second in WRC2 could be a little far. Everything happened today but we are here and we have to fight through.  Overall for our first time here is not so bad.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“In the morning my pace notes were too slow but I corrected them for the afternoon. So I maybe able push a little bit more tomorrow.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“We will look to do the same tomorrow as today – which was more attacking. The car is strong and I had a great rhythm.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“We are really happy. The engine has been struggling to cope with the heat. It was a little frustrating to lose some power on Nambucca but other than that it was a good day.”

SS17 and SS18 Destination NSW SSS III & IV

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“We managed to catch some more time – so it has been good.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“On the first run I made a small mistake and was a bit optimistic with my braking, with the tyres more worn yesterday – other than that I am pleased.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It was fun – the are nice stages for the spectators where they see a lot of cars and action. Seb took some time from me on the first run and I managed to pull time back on the second pass – so overall happy.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“It was alright although I made a mistake on the second one – at one of the haybale turns where I hit it and it wouldn’t move out of the way – I kept pushing it around with me so we lost maybe a second. Still; it was a good stage with lots of people.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It was fun and nice for the spectators where they can come see the rally.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It was good and we had a good performance as tyres are completely slick!  So I have been hard on them today and the time won’t be the fastest on that stage.  I have no traction out of the corners but overall I am very pleased.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“Quite enjoyable – quite a lot of spectators. I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again – the scenery is quite fantastic and to drive along/around the beach like that is quite enjoyable – not just for us but for the spectators as well.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“Same as yesterday – a good run. It was quite a nice stage.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“For the super special I need to improve my driving.

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“First run we made a mistake and second one was much better.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“The stage was quite okay – no dramas or mistakes. As we have never been here before I wanted to take it carefully.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“Not so bad. Fast on the first one. On the second we came off the jump and landed on the wrong side of the road and had a spin. I lost time I don’t know maybe 15 seconds.”

SS16 Valla16 II

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“I can play with this pressure. For now I tried everything and here struggled with the line so couldn’t do more.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“A good day for us so far. Another good stage and wrong tyre choice this morning lost me some time for second or third place but still a lot of cleaning.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“The peddles are touching inside the car and when I use the brake it doesn’t work properly.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“Just trying to drive really straight – to drive in the line and be neat and tidy. We’ve managed the tyres better than last year but still room for improvement. It keeps it nice and close for tomorrow. We will have a good reset tonight and won’t give up until the end of the power-stage.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“The tyres are completely destroyed so balance is bad. It was a good day – but I think we lost time in there, compared to Mads.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“I think all the tread has gone. The time is okay; I am pleased as I knew we would lose some time.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It was okay. I changed the car before this stage but not quite enough.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“A clean stage – no worries, all good. Still driving.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It was quite strange as the brakes weren’t quite right and lost the brakes completely near the end.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“It was very difficult and sometimes understeering – it was quite slippery and don’t have much tyre left.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“No problems – everything is fine. I was expecting it to be harder – first of all we need to finish for the championship and secondly for next year – we will be back.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“It was clean and our problem before means the fight for second position is over. I tried – tried to push a bit more on this one.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“It was much better than this morning and good experience for next year.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“Excellent – we had a lot of fun in this one and have improved a lot.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“Very good – a very solid day. Very happy with that second run through even though we had a small spin at the spectator point which was my own fault.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“Better than Nambucca – just glad to get through the day really. The first loop was tough – having the heater on – trying to manage the temperature. We had no idea what to expect to happy to have made it through with no major issues.

SS15 Nambucca II

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“It was a difficult stage – still a bit slippery – just had to manage the tyres. The line wasn’t always good but I’m looking after the tyres.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“To be honest I had to back off at the end as the tyre didn’t deliver any more and it was sliding a lot at the rear – that is where we were losing time.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“I am fighting for second place in the championship. It was a good stage – I was keeping a balance to look after my tyres.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“I am fighting for second place in the championship. It was a good stage – I was keeping a balance to look after my tyres.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“We knew Ogier would be on a mission here. We had a good stage and tried to drive smoother although the tyres started to go off 5km toward the end so is a big improvement on last year.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“We are happy – the car is balanced and performing. I lost some time at the end of the stage but it was okay.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“The tyres are completely finished, toward the end of the stage, and I couldn’t do any more. We did well and pushed, calmed down, pushed again – to see what the tyres were like.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“We didn’t have a good feeling in the car after making changes in service. I had to slow down in the corners to find the traction, so unfortunately a bad stage for us.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“It is like a sauna but is manageable.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“I tried to push but it is a long stage and hard to remember from this morning. Time is perfect.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“It was very exhausting – really hard. About 15km toward the end I was feeling loss of power which I think was loss of the tyres.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“I was enjoying this stage – kept it smooth and kept the brakes cool by not using them hard.

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

Damaged front-right wheel and flat-rear: “I got a puncture near the end.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“I pushed a lot to get some time.”

SS14 Raceway SSS II

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“We are happy with this morning and for sure it was a gamble going out on softs and with our position it was the only thing we could try. It has been better than expected. For this afternoon there will be some issue with tyre wear so it is still interesting.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“I should have taken a bit more risk this morning. We are still in the fight; considering our start position we are doing pretty well.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It has been a good morning I have to say. There is a lot of cleaning and I think Seb’s risk with taking soft tyres paid off. For sure this afternoon we have to push.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“We certainly can’t be disappointed even though it could be better. We are back in the fight at the moment. It is a carbon copy of last year and hopefully we’ve learned some lessons and can do more this afternoon to manage our tyres. On the second pass it will be more even so we have to keep the pressure on and give it our best shot.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It is okay. On the long stage we made a mistake in the dust and lost 6-7 seconds. We will try.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It has been a rough time for me. It started after Germany and I haven’t been myself since. This stage didn’t go so well as I didn’t drive it well yesterday and went wide in a couple places but never mind.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It has been a good morning for sure – and am very pleased. We have to carry on like this and hopefully increase our pace this afternoon.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It has been a good morning and am happy. The first stage was quite tough for us on the second pass and this afternoon should be better – we are looking forward to it.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“This morning the average pace was not the best.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“No problems – the car is working perfectly – the crew as well. I have tried a different driving style here from tarmac to being more sideways and the time is faster.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“We are really lucky to be here after a close call on the long first stage. The plan is to focus on the driving and if we can do a really good job it will be okay.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“The first stage was very slippery so I had to save the tyres and be safe. I was struggling with the mechanicals of the car yesterday but is okay today.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“Today is much better than yesterday. We have enjoyed the morning – even the long stages – we are getting in to it today.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“We took a big chunk out of Simon Evans on that long one so it has been a good morning.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“Some stages we’ve had the heater on because we are worried about the temperature – especially in the slower parts of the stages.”

SS13 Valla16 I

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“I was completely flat-out and doing the best with the grip I have. The tyre choice was risky to take the soft, but with our position it will hopefully help with the time lost.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“The stage was very very smooth and I had to back off at least 3-4 times due to the dust. With the car I was on the limit and sometimes over the limit. I thought maybe the hards would work better on the long stage and I didn’t expect it would be so loose on this short one.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“I took a lot of risks – it was so dusty – it was hard to see anything.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“We struggled a bit in there – it was very very loose. We were sliding round a bit so have to bring our driving back a notch. The dust is better in the car with a bit of tape on the floor.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“A little bit of dust but a lot of gravel – it’s not cleaning.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“Now I am back – I needed my comeback – I’m myself – I’m Jari-Matti again. I have been lost for six months, but this stage gave me back what I am missing. I had confidence, no fear, got the apex and drove flat-out.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“A good rhythm in there. It was a good pace – I didn’t really go too fast – it was a clean run and I was happy with it.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“I tried hard but the tyres have gone off.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“I tried to go fast – it was a good stage but this morning has been complicated. I am happy – I feel like I can do more.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“I am struggling a bit in some parts of the stage – some parts are much better. It is okay and the pace notes aren’t so bad.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“It was fine, I am keeping to a consistent speed. In this stage; there is nothing wrong with the car but it lacks power in the loose gravel – I just had to find a nice rhythm.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“In the heat the power in the car is a little bit less so we have to adapt to that so when we get to the outside of the corner I don’t have the power to get the car out. But it is okay – it is friendly and we are trying to go fast.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“It was crazy and very slippery. I won’t push too much – we have some changes to make to our notes.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“This one was very nice – one of the most beautiful I think – almost perfect. It is enjoyable – the engine is going well.”

 SS12 Nambucca I

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“So far to go today, I had to try the new tyre choice. I think the tyres will be okay.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“I am very happy. I couldn’t have gone with soft tyres like Ogier, but I lost 5-6 seconds in the dust.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“I thought there was a lack of grip – not easy but quite happy with that.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“From the very first corner there was dust billowing in to the car. Easy to get distracted by the amount of dust – I just tried to drive the best stage I could. Must be some damage underneath the car somewhere – it felt as if the rear door was open.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“In one corner I lost a bit of time in dust, it was a slow corner otherwise a very nice stage.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It was nice – I enjoyed it. We had a good run but there was a lot of dust toward the end and had to back off a bit – the visibility was getting quite bad.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It was quite difficult in the dust toward the end – and the pace didn’t feel as perfect. I should have more pace note information for the dust.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“In the beginning I was pushing hard, but it is very hot and we lost the tyres so it was a bit frustrating – I just tried to do my best.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“I pushed to my maximum – very difficult to drive 50km so hard –  I am on the limit but is okay.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“I am happy to be here. It was the first time completing this stage but I could go a bit faster.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“It was not so enjoyable for me as we are not going to be hard – we are just driving safe. Everything is fine.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“A really close call after the second jump where we had a spin.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“It was a long stage – but I think it was okay. There was dust where I had to brake a bit more for the corner but was okay.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/FRDERIC MICLOTTE

“It was long and hot but the car and tyres held up so at the moment we are happy.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“I was surprised with how slippery it was and how little grip there was out there but I am happy with the pace and the car in the hot weather.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“It was long and hot and we have the heater on the whole way to help manage the engine temperature. There is something wrong with the rear of the car that we have to go and find out about.”

Service B

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“It has been a good day. We tried everything we could. In the first loop it was very slippery but anyway we went maximum and in the second loop the grip was a bit better. Being second tonight is better than expected – so happy. If we keep going without mistakes you never know what the result will bring.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“Considering our road position with a lot of cleaning I think we have done quite well in the conditions. We are not far behind and being on the podium tonight is a good position.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It has been a very good day I have to say. I didn’t expect to lead the rally after being third on the road but we attacked all day and made no big mistakes. We have to attack Nambucca very hard tomorrow morning and I expect Sebastien very fast tomorrow and we know he is good with tyre wear so we will have to give it everything and try to keep our distance.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“It’s not bad. It is all very close up the front and although we lost a lot of time on the Newry stage other than that we are in a good position to fight for the podium tomorrow – I’m just looking forward to my favourite stages. Nambucca is my highlight stage of the year – with a bit of everything – that flows from start to finish.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“To be honest we are not very happy with today getting a penalty for arriving late to the start of a stage so we are out of the fight. Tomorrow will be a long day.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It has been a difficult day. The positive thing is we have managed to fight back and get back to service – that is our positive from the day.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“It is quite close with many other drivers today – so we will keep pushing tomorrow and with the longer stages we will see a bit more of a time difference.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“The morning started quite okay, to be third overall after three stages but then we had a couple of issues. Our afternoon was okay – we had some good stage times and let’s see how tomorrow goes.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“I think it was a good day for us – very good for a first time in Australia. So to be behind Mads and maybe sixth means we will have to push tomorrow and maybe finish fifth. I like the long stages.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“Our day was good with a comfortable pace and we threw it away on the small stage. So we will have to fight back tomorrow and hopefully do better.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“Generally it has been a really nice day one. We are under control no problem. We don’t need to show our pace –  we need to stay under control. I only need to finish P1 or P2 so we are happy.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“I’m second in the category so it is okay. tomorrow if it is the same as today with the heat it will be bad for the tyres.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“The grip today was okay but it changes a lot which is surprising and we have to adapt. If we push we are one second down on Lappi so that is good.”

Car 35. KHALID AL-SUWAIDI/MARSHALL CLARKE

“I am happy. It was my first day in the Skoda so it was good.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“I am happy apart from losing a bit of time in the Newry 1 stage which was my fault because I was too conservative. After that it was a great day to paint my place in the shire roads near Macksville – it was very good.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“I’m pretty satisfied after day one.  I can look at things I and improve but overall it worked well and we did as what we could ask for.”

SS10 & SS11 Destination NSW SSS

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“It was fun – very short but intense so we had to push hard. We tried to set a good time and I am happy with today.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“It was quite nice – with spectacular scenery. It was good to see people out watching so I enjoyed it – it was a lot of fun.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“The stages are nice – okay a bit fast for the tyres with an abrasive surface so we were struggling a bit with the tyres.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“I liked the super special – it was good fun to drive. The first run went well and the second was almost excellent and then I made a mistake at the roundabout because I tried a new style to get round it and unfortunately I started to understeer and got a bad exit.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“It was interesting – quite a nice stage to be honest with quite a lot of people there. The scenery was incredible and wish I’d had time to see more of it.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“They were nice stages with many spectators and a good atmosphere.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“We need to improve our driving in the super special stages. The first run was good and looking nice for the spectators and TV.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“Really bad. In the first pass we got blinded by the sun and I went in the opposite direction – and we lost 30sec. So I have to fight back tomorrow for the tenth position.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“It’s okay – good for the spectators. It is a good show, not much fun for us but we are still here so everything is fine.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“I did some damage on the second lap and hit a wall of gravel.  I hurt a shock and a wheel but we fixed that on the road section.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“It was good. We had some small troubles but we are here at the end of a long day so everything is good.”

Car 35. KHALID AL-SUWAIDI/MARSHALL CLARKE

“It was a good stage.  I had a lot of fun it was slippery on the first loop but the second I was better.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“It was really difficult in my car at the barrel-turn of 720°, which is hard in the S 2000. When you get down in the revs it doesn’t want to turn. But it was fun.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“We had a ball a lot of fun and it was a great crowd.  Around the 720° corner the clutch got a bit of a workout and then Bill and I were laughing!  It is good to put on the show.”

SS9 Newry16 II

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“I drove as hard as I can. Not the best road position but nothing to lose this weekend. This stage is still quite slippery – so will see what those behind can do.

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“I tried to do my best. To be honest to be in the position I am now is quite good. For sure the car isn’t working quite like we’d like we are satisfied.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“Everything is fine but it is easy to make a mistake as the grip is changing all the time. We have two short stages to go so should be fine – we will get to service okay.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“No drama at all – Andreas got a bit of a gap and it is going to be a good fight tomorrow. The guys are going to be doing sweeping tomorrow so we will be in a good position. I think our tyres are worse than the others – and that’s my own fault. Something I’ve learned for next year – to help look after them.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“There was no grip at all. We lost time so am surprised by how much for our second time through.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“Much better this time. Not so bad rhythm although we have been struggling to swap around the tyres.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“We are getting close now – the handling has been better now. It was really dusty during the reece so we have to make lots of changes to our notes.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“I expected our time would be better – as I pushed. I don’t know why we have such a gap to the other cars.

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It was difficult on this stage – I tried but it wasn’t easy – I have used my tyres too much.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“For me it was difficult to find grip. The rear of the car was going everywhere.

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“It has been okay. A good day so far, no dramas or problems – all under control I’d say.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“In the last stage I bent one arm, changed it and now it is okay.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“It’s not bad – we had to be careful as we overheated the engine so had to slow down. The car isn’t at full power but is okay.”

Car 34. JOURDAN SERDERIDIS/ FREDERIC MICLOTTE

“Nice stage – and twisty. Trying to learn more of the car. A good rally. More grip than this morning.”

Car 62. MICHEL FABRE/MAXIMA VILMOT

“The last stage is very nice for us. We have some problem with the brake using the left foot.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“It was tough for us. We went much faster than our first pass so am happy with that. Really satisfied with our day – we’ve done all we can and looking forward to tomorrow’s stages.”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

“I really enjoyed that stage – it suited us the best. It was jumping out of fifth gear so had to hold on to it which isn’t easy when you’re going so fast. We’ve done the best we can today so we can be happy.”

SS8 Northbank II

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“The tyre wear is extremely high – it is really really hot. The tyre looks really worn already.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“We are doing as well as we can in the conditions. It is a high-speed stage so lost a bit of the tyres.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“Understeering in every corner – so not nice. I got a water bottle between my feet but managed to catch it in one of the corners and get it back.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“Those tyres are really bad – although it’s the same for everybody. But the way I’m driving I’ve been too hard on our tyres so I tried to drive straighter later in the stage but the damage is done now.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It is difficult as the tyres are completely destroyed – there is no grip. There is still gravel on the road so been difficult to have a good stage.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“It is quite an okay time. I used my tyres too much in the previous two stages so is okay for their condition.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“The tyres are okay I think. It was good rhythm.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“The balance is much better this afternoon.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“This stage was a little hot.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“We changed the front camber and it is working much better. The times are a bit better so we will carry on like this.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“It has been a problem-free rally but there is still a long way to go. The was a huge stick on the road in the line. It’s come from somewhere – it didn’t fall from a tree.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“I hit a wall – I need to fix now.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“Really good stages. I don’t know the reason but we lost time with overheating – so just driving to the service. I have a problem with the temperature sensor.”

SS7 Bakers Creek II

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“For sure better but still improving. Usual things for the second loop. The lines are not so good and the guys behind me will improve.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“The car was working nicely. More grip on the rear and is quite stable and able to drive fast. I was able to follow the lines of Ogier as grip was good. Was good in the slow corners but too sideways in the fast corners.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It was okay but not the best stage. I had to use the handbrake to turn it. I told myself not to and almost lost it. Have more understeer as there is more grip and I have to adjust.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“It is really difficult and sliding around a lot. No rear grip at all and we need to make some adjustments.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It was better and I had a good feeling but I thought that the time would have been better. Good feeling in the stage but the time is not good.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“We were able to fix the car at service and it is good now. I would have benefited from running at full speed on the first run as I can’t fully push on all sections. I do have some understeer but I think that is the character of the stage not the car.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“It was okay. There were no problems in that stage so am happy.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“The stage was quite nice. There was a lot more grip and our tyres were too hard. We had no understeer issues.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“We had good grip. We were able to fix the handling issue at service so am happy.”

Car 62. MICHEL FABRE/MAXIMA VILMOT

Car superb, stage superb, very happy!”

Car 63. BRENDAN REEVES/RHIANON GELSOMINO

Car parked on roadside out of stage: “There is a problem with the car. It happened about 4km from the end. Not sure. Could be a turbo we have to have a look.”

Car 65. HARRY BATES/JOHN MCCARTHY

“The second run through was good. We went 5sec quicker so am happy. The heat doesn’t affect us which is a plus, except for the brakes!”

Car 67. MOLLY TAYLOR/BILL HAYES

Engine temperature warning on dash: “That was tough for us on that stage. It is because the ambient temperature is high but the stages will only get longer.”

SS6 Utungun II

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“I have been maximum since the start of the rally. It is better than this morning for sure, but the conditions are better to. Happy to push and see what happens.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“I have to go too sideways if I want to carry the speed – so not so nice. We lose speed doing that and we can’t follow Ogiers lines.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It is going very well so far. The grip levels were different this afternoon but still some cleaning.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“You can feel it is hard on the tyres – it is very abrasive. I was happy enough with my driving in there and happy enough with the time.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It is all good – the tyres are working better – I’m happy.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“We had a good run and am quite happy.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“It was a good stage. I didn’t really manage to take full advantage of the higher grip but it is okay.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“It is a bit better, so the gap is closer.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It was not very easy – very slippery again. It will definitely be better for the next two.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“It was much better. We fixed the problems we had with the camber.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“It was more difficult than the first pass. Somehow the line was narrower – this rally is full of surprises.”

Service A

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“Feeling really good. We had a really good drive and used the most I could of the two lines from the cars in front. We had no moments and had a good clean drive. For sure it will improve for this afternoon. I expected the guys behind to be leading – so for us to lead is good. We just have to keep it there and not change anything.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“With our tyres I wanted to do something different to everyone else. This morning was the only time you could try a different tyre choice as the next two days it’s very predictable. There is a long way to go and we will never make up the time lost this morning in the afternoon. And tomorrow is my favourite day – of the whole championship. The Nambucca 50km stage is one you can really attack. In these stages today it’s hard to make big gaps so you’ve got to stay there or there abouts.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“The first one was quite good and we used a lot of tyres so we were struggling a bit in the later stages – so lost a bit of time. Now at service we reset and try again this afternoon. This morning it was more about cleaning this stages.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“It was quite loose this morning with challenging conditions. We had some issues with the throttle and it sticking so it was good to get through. Then we got lost in the road section. I think the afternoon will be very difficult with tyre wear – high wear in short sections. Hopefully there is much more grip and we will try to improve the balance of the car.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It has been a very good morning. A good feeling with the road and the car – it’s been better than we expected so we are happy. I am happy with the pace and don’t think we have to push.”

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“It’s been tough but not so bad. They are nice stages. We’ve been struggling a little with the tyre and the tyre wear so the car has been understeering. For this afternoon we hope to improve the pace.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“It has been okay and the stages have been slippery. Our first time competing in Australia so our notes aren’t as good. I am happy with the car – I think it is okay.”

SS5 Raceway SSS I

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“I pushed as hard as we can but there is not much we can do. It will be a tough weekend for sure.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“It’s not been easy – we’re keeping up with Ogier so happy with that. Just have to keep an eye on the championship and the points.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It’s been a very good morning. I expected the guys at the back to be faster than they’ve been. I’ve been comfortable – no moments.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“You have to try things some times. I don’t think there was any right tyre choice. We’re 13sec back and will have a good try this afternoon. Today is about getting ourselves in a good position. Tomorrow is the day I really really enjoy.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It’s not so bad this morning. This afternoon will be the same for everybody so may be more difficult.” Got lost on road section prior to previous stage.

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“The rear suspension support upright is damaged after a little touch of the rear-left.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/OLA FLOENE

“The last two stages haven’t been so good. We’ll get fresh tyres at service. We will continue pushing and am trying best I can.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“We had some problems.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It was a good morning for us – more than we expected. It was good to come back and be able to fight with Ostberg.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“The car is understeering so we will have to make some changes. I think the camber of the front

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“We are doing what we need to do.”

SS4 Newry16 I

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“It was okay. We were on the limit but obviously, it is not enough. I am doing everything I can.

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE/NICOLAS GILSOUL

“I tried to do well but my time is not so good. My tyre is worn compared to Ogier and I cannot explain it. We have to keep up the pace and focus on our championship. We have to keep the pressure up and get some important points. We are going to do our best.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“We had a good morning and a good run although very loose so I expected to lose more time – we will see. I think we are doing a really good job being third on the road so we will have to keep on this.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/JOHN KENNARD

“A big problem – soft tyres on the back and hards on the front. We hit the bank 3-4 times and half spins 3-4 times so I’d say something is broken.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“It was okay in this stage – no problem.” Late starting the stage.

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“We managed to do more fixing of the car but have to be very careful not to drive it too fast. The target is to get to the service, get it fixed.

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“It was a bad stage – no rhythm inside the car so we lost a lot of time.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“We have a sticking throttle and I got lost in the notes, we had a spin. It is difficult.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“Completely different with trees beside the stage. A very good morning.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“It has been tough, no grip at all, spinning and my tyres are finished. We aren’t driving too bad.”

SS3 Northbank I

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“I think I hit everything I could. At least I am trying – I have nothing to lose.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE / NICOLAS GILSOUL

“I have to drive sideways with the car to get the grip. I can use a little bit of Ogier’s line to try get some advantage.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“We tried to cut all the time. I just try to follow the lines – but there is so much cleaning it is amazing. We tried. When it was dusty and there are lots of blind corners so we have to trust the notes.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/ JOHN KENNARD

“When it gets tighter and twisty we struggle to get the car turned in a bit on the front hard tyres.”

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“I just follow the line and our tyres are soft. We don’t have a lot of grip.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

“The thing is I damaged the rear suspension, we managed to make a repair and we are finding a rhythm to drive that is fast and won’t break the repair.

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“I think I touched something – a post. It is so slippery and very difficult to have a good rhythm so I am fighting with the car. The tyres are over-heating in the second half so I was a bit too keen in the beginning.”

Car 12. OTT TANAK/RAIGO MOLDER

“It is difficult. Very hard to understand what is happening – just have to make it to the service. There is something with the balance of the car.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“A good run. I tried something with the car and now it is okay.”

Car 37. LORENZO BERTELLI/SIMONE SCATTOLIN

“The tyres are completely destroyed and we are struggling to keep control of the rear – I have no grip at all. I will try change the suspension. I am on the limit.

Car 31. ESAPEKKA LAPPI/JANNE FERM

“I struggled a bit at the beginning with the rhythm and pace notes. In the end it got better. There are some lines, but sometimes they are not using the exit and when I try drive to the exit it is very loose.”

Car 42. NICOLAS FUCHS/FERNANDO MUSSANO

“It is very slippery. I need to change the tyres. I tried to go safely – especially if you get out of the line.”

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“The end of the stage I knocked something. Not bad for the first time here. No grip – the tyres are gone.”

SS 2 Bakers Creek I

Car 1. SEBASTIEN OGIER/JULIEN INGRASSIA

“For sure, very dusty as I expected. I am losing a lot of time.”

Car 3. THIERRY NEUVILLE / NICOLAS GILSOUL

“Quite dusty especially in the forest sections. I can’t go much faster although the guys behind me will be able to go much faster.”

Car 9. ANDREAS MIKKELSEN/ANDERS JAEGER SYNNEVAG

“It is quite good out there but very slippery. I am trying to follow the lines of Ogier and Neuville but is challenging.”

Car 4. HAYDEN PADDON/ JOHN KENNARD

“For sure there is a lot of loose gravel. But the temperatures also make it quite hard on the tyres as well. It will get faster

Car 20. DANI SORDO/MARC MARTI

“There is an issue.”

Car 2. JARI-MATTI LATVALA/MIIKKA ANTTILA

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

Damage to driver door and rear panels: “There is a little damage to the car. It came from the advertising signs so no real issue and the car is okay.”

“It is very slippery and loose out there. There is something wrong with our set up that we will have to manage to service and sort it when we get there.”

Car 6. ERIC CAMILLI/ BENJAMIN VEILLAS

“It is not easy as it is very slippery out there. I want to go faster but I can’t and have to be very careful. It is a strange feeling. I did not lose time behind Latvala.”

“It is my second stage in Australia and first time here. I am looking to complete it safely. It is a little dusty but no problem. The road is now clean after the fast guys have been through

Car 33. HUBERT PTASZEK/MACIEK SZCZEPANIAK

“The second stage and second position so that is not bad for my first time here! We try to drive carefully but also fast and these two things are hard to compare!”

Car 63. BRENDAN REEVES/RHIANON GELSOMINO

“Ogier must be doing one hell of a job as it is still very slippery out there for me. I have a lot of understeer and I have to throw the car in a bit more. I don’t have any dust as there is a 5 minute gap for me.”

Car 64. NATHAN QUINN/DAVID CALDER

Damage to front of the car: “It is overheating and we have a battery light on. We lost power steering about 5km ago. I think we have done a belt. We should make it back to service-where there is a will there is a way!”

“We have broken suspension. My mistake – I went a bit wide on a right-hander and went in to a bridge.”

Car 5. MADS OSTBERG/ OLA FLOENE

“The time was very good. I thought it was very good even though it was slippery – it would have been more slippery for the guys in front. It was a nice stage, and I could go really wide – I enjoyed it.”
